Fieldwork started from a single, unfashionable observation: the farms producing the most food in the world were making critical decisions with the least data. Yield estimates were manual. Water allocation was guesswork. Distribution timing was based on habit, not intelligence. The founders had spent a combined 14 years in agricultural operations across East Africa and Southeast Asia. They were not building for the venture market. They were building for the operator who had no alternative.
NorthBridge had been tracking the precision agriculture thesis for two years before Fieldwork came through the door. We were not looking for consumer agri-apps or marketplace platforms. We were looking for infrastructure that sits beneath farm-level decision making and makes it measurably better. Fieldwork was exactly that.

A Founder Who Understood the Field Before the Market Did
The agritech space is full of consumer-facing platforms that help farmers browse prices and submit forms. Fieldwork was not that. They were rebuilding the decision intelligence layer at the operational level, integrating sensor data, weather systems, and yield modelling into a single source of truth that agri-operators could act on in real time. No other team in the sector had combined the domain depth with the technical architecture to make that work at scale.
